Christmas at the Cottage
Updated: Aug 24, 2018
The Festive Season gives us a great excuse to spend two weeks at our cottage to which we always look forward immensely. So Christmas 2017 was
no exception. We always promise that we won't bring a lot down with us but our Skoda Estate was packed to the hilt with hardly space left for a single piece of paper ! Usually, we bring enough housekeeping items for the first quarter and a few new pictures and touches to freshen up the decor. This time, we also needed to re-equip the new Kitchen / Diner with small appliances such as the four slice toaster, new cutlery and pans; and other items to co-ordinate with our theme of cool blue and warm cream.
We found cooking in the new Kitchen / Diner a delight and spent more time 'at home' rather than eating out. It was so easy with the new Quartzize work surfaces and splashbacks. Although these surfaces won't withstand extreme heat, they now give us more space for prepping meals; and, with the new splashbacks, the Kitchen is so easy to keep clean. We love our new Morphy Richards retro Fridge Freezer in blue with its integral wine / bottle rack. But the new retro Stove Mini Range Cooker Instructions for Use had us guessing. Nowhere did the User Instructions mention the safety feature for the hob. Eventually, I worked out that the hob cover must be fully upright (against the wall) - not at a slight angle - for the hob to operate.
Our first get together was the morning after our arrival when we had invited friends for Brunch. The new space worked beautifully and it was so easy to cook, serve and sit down to eat at the new table in the comfort of new co-ordinated memory foam seats.
